Counselor News:

Welcome to the Florence Middle School Counseling Department. Our 7th grade counselor is Mrs. Nix, 256-768-7141, and our 8th grade counselor is Ms. Lewis-Hicks, 256-768-7143.

Counselor Mission:

To empower all students to explore, create, challenge, innovate and lead by promoting positive behaviors through academic, personal/social skills and career goals.

Additional Services Offered:

The Healing Place will again offer a support program for grieving adolescents in the school environment. We work together to find a time to meet that will not disrupt your child’s learning environment and minimize classroom disruption. If you are interested in your child participating in one of these groups, please contact the counseling office and we will get you the necessary forms. The Healing Place also has off-campus groups for students and adults.

Riverbend Center for Mental Health- Riverbend counselor and prevention services can be made available to students. If you would like your students to receive these services, please call or email our counselors.

Enrolling your student in Florence Middle School:

To enroll your student in Florence Middle School you need to first go to Florence City Schools Central Office at 102 S. Court Street, Florence, AL . You will need a copy of the student’s birth certificate, social security card, updated Alabama immunization card, a proof of residency, a photo ID, and any custody paperwork. Once enrolled you can stop by the Florence Middle School Counseling Office to develop your student’s schedule. Our counselors will then contact the previous school to attain your child's student records. For more information, please call 768-3100.

We encourage our FMS parents to:

  • Check your child's progress in INOW
  • Encourage your child to review lessons each night even when not assigned homework
  • Encourage your child to study for tests ahead of time
  • Encourage your child to ask questions
